Great news for Austin music fans! For those who simply don’t have the means to attend the three-day extravaganza that is Austin City Limits, or those of us who prefer to see bands in a non-festival setting, the announcement of the official pre-shows and after-shows shows taking place from October 6-9 should give hope for those who don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to see some great bands. C3, the company in charge of running the festival, made the list of shows available today.

Several of these performances will undoubtedly sell out quick, such as The Strokes playing Stubb’s on Wednesday, Spoon at The Mohawk on Thursday, and Sonic Youth with Warpaint at La Zona Rosa on Saturday. Other notable shows include an Antone’s stop by Girls and The Soft Pack on Saturday, Monsters of Folk playing Stubb’s on Friday, and The Black Keys playing with Foals at the same venue the next night. In short, there will be a lot of great shows to choose from.

Equally as exciting was the announcement today by Welsh septet Los Campesinos! that they will be touring the US later this fall, stopping by La Zona Rosa Oct. 23. The band has a reputation as being a stellar live act, and I have personally witnessed their exuberance and talents in person twice. I practically had to restrain myself from jumping out of my chair during my first day of French when I read the news on their blog. Unfortunately, their show is the same night that The Thermals and Cymbals Eat Guitars play at Red 7, meaning I’m going to have to miss that one in order to see Los Campesinos! Nevertheless, it will be a joy to see them again.  Their latest album, “Romance Is Boring,” contains some of their best work, and combined with the stellar material of their first two albums, it should make for an amazing set. It’s you! It’s Me! It’s Los Campesinos at La Zona Rosa!
