This summer was extremely challenging for me. I was faced with the horror of almost being completely broke, trying with little luck to find a job in addition to the twelve hours a week I get as an office assistant at St. Edward’s. Coincidentally enough, this summer also (surprisingly) happened to be a relatively dry season for shows in Austin, thereby allowing me to be devoid of envy at those who got to see a new band every other day. Aside from the New Pornographers and LCD Soundsystem, there were very few shows that made me wish I still received a paycheck from the grocery store that I (begrudgingly) worked at during the school year.

Thankfully, starting in late August, the next few months are shaping up to be filled with great shows almost weekly. If things start to pick up again money wise (hopefully being back in school will give me less of an impulse to spend), I plan to attend all these shows in some form or another, whether for this blog, for PopMatters, or for any other writing gig I may come across in that time.
