This past weekend, the always entertaining people at Austin’s other fall music festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest leaked three of their confirmed acts by incorporating the announcement into Bill Murray’s “Dalai Lama” speech from “Caddyshack.”  The festival organizers are no strangers to communicating with their audience in hilarious ways, and this video announcement ably continues the tradition.

The controversial old-school rapper Slick Rick was the first artist to be overdubbed into Murry’s monologue. This reflects the festival’s dedication to hip-hop, as the past few festivals have seen artists such as GZA, The Cool Kids and Clipse grace its stages. Next, they gave a nod to their impressive streak of booking legendary punk and hardcore bands, such as last year’s bombshell Danzig, with the announcement of Suicidal Tendencies. The group is scheduled to release their first album in a decade sometime before the end of this year, and their appearance at the festival can be a good way for them to test the new material, in addition to playing their fan’s favorite tracks. Lastly, the video catered to the festival’s arguably biggest demographic, the indie crowd, with the announcement that Best Coast will be on the bill. The Los Angeles duo is set to release their great debut album next week, and it is likely that their set at the festival will be packed, given the amount of hype they’ve been getting the last few months.

More artists will be leaked in the coming weeks before the festival announces it’s full lineup next month. Judging by their first three disclosures, you can be sure that this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest will contain a lineup just as impressive and diverse as it has been in years past. As a cheap(er) alternative to the Austin City Limits Music Festival, it has yet to disappoint.
